Artem Kachanovskyy inches his way closer to 8d with win against ChenHui 7d KGS
Background:
Many KGS users are familiar with artem92 7d, the 16 year old go sensation who lives in Ukraine. Already having reached 8d on Tygem, Artem Kachanovskyy has moved his way up on KGS, being ranked currently at 7d. His winning record as of late has been fairly good, having won 15 out of the last 20 games.
ChenHui 7d has an identity that is unknown to me. The picture shown above is simply his KGS avatar. Whether or not he is that young is unknown. Whatever his age, though, he is certainly a strong player, having defeated a number of KGS superstars, including but not limited to rapyuta 8d, twoeye 6d, Cornel 7d, and kghin 6d.
In this exciting game, the fuseki starts out rather naturally. By the middle game, at around move 49, 5d spectators feel that black is "clearly ahead". Looking at the board position here, we can see that black has all four corners, and also has a line of stones splitting white down the center - It looks difficult for white to catch up with territory.
But white doesn't let the game end there! He jumps in with K17 at move 51, and breaks through black's wall with move 66. A black capture is made later on. But is it enough to win the game?
Play through the sgf, not only to find out, but also to learn from these two great players!
