The game we present here is between the popular 철이(P)/Marriag(P) 9d and daxiang 9d.  

While we've talked a lot here on GoSensations.com about Marriag(P), not a ton has been said about daxiang.  From various Korean news sources, there is evidence that he is a Chinese pro, but not much more has been said.

daxiang 9d:

I did a bit of investigation, and found an interesting article mentioning the great daxiang 9d of Tygem.  You can find it here:

The article is in Korean, so you can use your favorite translation source if you'd like, but for those of you that don't want to take the time, there are a couple of bits of information in the article that I found to be fascinating.  

In particular, after reading,

"중국 9단 가운데 이름만 들어도 알 수 있을 만큼 유명한 아이디가 있으니 그가 바로 daxiang이다. 보통 타이젬 회원들은 닥상이라 부르기도 하는데 중국어로 daxiang은 코끼리(大象)를 뜻한다. 일반적으로 코끼리는 시속 50km로 달린다고 한다. 상대적으로 단거리를 시속 110km로 달리는 치타와 비교하면 코끼리의 달리기는 느린 편이라고 할 수 있다. 앞의 이야기를 확대 해석해 보면 daxiang은 발은 빠르지 않지만 체중을 실어 공격하는 코끼리처럼 묵직한 펀치력의 소유자라는 것을 암시하는 것 같다.",

we can know a little bit more about the origin of daxiang's name.  

A very rough translation might be as follows (I may have made a couple of mistakes),

"Out of Chinese 9d, the most famous id that you can know simply by hearing it is certainly daxiang.  Usually, Tygem users will call him 'daxiang', but in Chinese, daxiang has the meaning of elephant.  Typically, elephants can run 50 km per hour.  Compared to an opponent like a cheeta that can go 110km per hour, you can say that the elephant is a bit on the slow side. If we try and analyze this, daxiang is not so fast, but it might be suggested that the weight in his attack, like an elephant, gives a punch with a heavy blow.

The article goes on to speak about daxiang in a bit more detail, which I will leave for more interested readers to further investigate.

That being said, it seems that in addition to 철이(P) 9d, daxiang 9d is certainly an "elephant to be feared" on Tygem.

철이(P)/Marriag(P):

Though daxiang's punch may be strong, Marriag is certainly a worthy opponent!  Since the last Tygem posting here on GoSensations.com of Marriag when he beat anchampion, Marriag has been winning straight!  He is maintaining only 4 losses in the last 20 games...  And actually, those are the only losses he's had in the 38 games of which I can view the record.

And while talking about the players may be interesting in itself, the game alone might be called sensational!  With 237 moves, 철이(P) 9d delivers the last punch, which makes this Chinese elephant choose to resign.
