"BlingBling" loses his swing against comoh77 9d
Background:
Attracting more than 550 observers, a new Tygem 9d from China known only as
comoh77(P) stunned the crowd, going against the expectation of betters and soundly defeating 블링블링(P), the Tygem star that some speculate to be none other than Kang Dongyun 9p (
http://www.gosensations.com/?id=2&server_id=4&new_id=143).
Despite the speculation, there is still little to be known about the precise identity of 블링블링(P), but reporters from tygem.com also seem to have an interest in this spectacular player. Sources here (
http://www.tygem.com/news/news/viewpage.asp?pagec=1&seq=10311&gubun=C&find=&findword=) speculate the meaning behind 블링블링(P)'s nickname, considering the possibility of a ten year old pop song called, "Bling Bling", perhaps holding the same meaning as the hip-hop phrase which has been coined since then, "
반짝반짝". I wasn't quite sure about the meaning of this, but one thing that it reminded me of was the newly released song entitled "Gee Gee" (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eodFU4b237s) at about 1:20 into the song (ban-jjak ban-jjak). But perhaps the article implies that 블링블링 can refer to a strong or unique individuality. In any case, the origin of the name is speculation both on behalf of me and the author of the Tygem article.
What we are sure of, though, is that 블링블링(P) is not only a superb player, but also quite popular on the Tygem server, having had as many as 1200 spectators in his game against the elephant, daxiang 9d, overcoming the count of around 1000 spectators in the 철이(P) and daxiang game (
http://www.tygem.com/news/news/viewpage.asp?pagec=&seq=10353&gubun=C&find=&findword=). Perhaps we can safely conclude from this that Tygem spectators are at least somewhat interested in 블링블링(P).
But what about his opponent, comoh77(P)? You might say that we haven't said much about him. The reason for this is that his account is almost brand new! Having played his first game on Tygem on April 3, 2009, comoh77 has finished 10 games on Tygem, playing all of them as a 9d. And his record for those 10 games? He's won 90% of them! That's right, comoh77 has only lost one game on Tygem so far, so let's look forward to more great battles between comoh77 and the other strong 9d on Tygem in the coming days!

In this game, comoh77(P) and 블링블링(P) play the upper right corner of the board following a similar pattern as can be seen in
http://www.gosensations.com/index.php?id=2&server_id=4&new_id=365. Some of the other fuseki points are a bit different, but considering that breakfast has mentioned Park Yeunhun and Chang Hao as using a similar fuseki in the BC card cup, perhaps it is a sequence we should investigate thoroughly (Note: In this game, white plays Q8, which varies from the referenced BC card cup game, but the corner joseki is the same.).
The ko that started after O2 was pretty exciting, but didn't last for long with white's single ko threat at R9. Black put plenty of pressure on white's groups, and captured three stones in the middle of the game, making use of the wall he built earlier. In the end, black's lead in territory was too great, leading white to resign after 287 moves, upsetting a 63%-37% favor in betting for 블링블링(P).
