A wonderful Japanese top player : meijinn67
Every time I see a high rated Japanese player on Tygem, I tell to myself :"Yes, they are there, they play wonderful, they will be back at the top!" "meijinn67" intrigued me from the beginning with his handle. Is he the famous meijin of the sixties and seventies, the one and only Rin Kaiho ( he hold the meijin title 8 times in 1965, 1966, 1967, 1969, 1971, 1972, 1973, 1977) or is he just an admirer of that great player ? I have watched some of his games and I like him so much. I am really impressed by his style. I hope he is Rin, but my hope, of course, does not mean much. Cho Chikun said something like this about Rin, after a title match :"Few people understand the real power of Rin. Only if you play against him, you feel the magic hidden behind his moves." Look at this amazing game. White is a Chinese player with a positive score at 9D . It began with an unusual sequence on the left side, involving some KOs, till move 35. Then came the sequence involving G15 group, saved after move 99. The fight continued so tense, that nobody cared about the 6 stones group from D7, neither black to capture it or white to defend it. Another KO erupted with 148, before the astonishing invasion at L2 with move 209. The invasion worked and I felt some magic. Could white have played better ? It would be interesting to find out. I finish this story with something I find also interesting. 2 hours later, WZXGS played against another top Japanese : "detective" ( supposed to be Cho U). Cho U hold the Meijin title 4 times (2004, 2005, 2007, 2008). The Chinese lost again in 219 moves.
"meijinn67" 9D -Japan (Rin Kaiho 9 P ?) : 149 - 65 (36275 p)
"WZXGS" 9D - China : 676 - 505 (36491 p)
There is another handle meijin67 with no games, so this must be the reason he wrote the handle with double n
