Gabriel Benmergui lives in Buenos Aires, Argentina.
He is 23 years old and has participated in four international tournaments. In
2005 stayed in Koreaat Lee Sanghun/Lee Sedol Baduk school for a period of 2 months. In 2009 stayed
3 months at the new academy Kings Baduk Center directed by Kim Sungrae 4p.
Gabriel is one of the strongest experts on
GoSensations.com and is probably in best 100 on KGS (danigabi).
Q. You were a student in KingsBadukCenterin Korea.
Do you plan to visit Koreaagain? You are not far from pro level, somaybe you would like to try to become professional
in Korea or Japan?
A. I will definitely visit Korea again, and I will stay and
study in short periods of time, but I don't plan on staying for a long time. Although
its harder, I am not neglecting my training back in Argentina,
and I don't give up on being pro, but I have to follow a different path than
staying for a long time in Korea.
Q. You often play on KGS. Why do you like this
server?
A. I like KGS because the client makes it very easy to
teach and comment, to make presentations and lectures.
Q. How did you get to your level?
A. I have been actively playing about 5 years, and
after getting to around 5 kyu I started to train more seriously. I solve
problems regularly, review pro games and had many people that taught me many
things. A key factor that helped me get where I am is having a competitive
spirit: I always have someone in mind to try to beat, to get stronger than him,
and that is a good motivator. Several years ago it was Aguilar, now its Hong
Seolki, a teacher at KBC (seolki on KGS).
Q. I know that you accept private students on
KGS. Let us know more
details, please. Also, what was the
fastest/biggest progress made by
your student?
A. My experience teaching is mostly in real life in Argentina's
club. Its hard to measure how much was my teaching and how much was the
students own skill, but I have taught players from 8k to 2d in 1 or 2 years.
I have a different approach than the standard
game/review class. Of course that is the basis of teaching but I focus on
getting the students where they want to be.
Some players have the dream of becoming pro, others
only want to get a stone stronger, people want different things so I make a
plan according to that. For example, one of my students told me he aims to be
professional, so I make him do many life and death problems daily.
Besides playing I give theory lessons and problems (because
theory in go is practical) and also correct life and death and Tesuji problems
that I give my students to improve their reading.

Hm, what is this? Did it hurt your ego and pride to see someone else have an interview so much that you JUST HAD TO come and bash? You are frail, Mr. bloodninja.
I won't even begin to dissect and annihilate your arguments, since they are polluted by rashness and are, thus, useless.
"oh men"... NEXT!

Dear Bloodninja,
no one has asked you for you're opinion and no one is making you read this interview.
Calling someone else in names on the internet and behind his back is much more useless then doing it to his face.
Moreover its not about being the "Next pro superstar".
The reason for this interview was
( as far as I can tell) the fact that Gabriel is a very strong player And that he just came out of the IBA and at his time there he was one one the strongest students
if you want to interview Ali go ahead and do it(as far as I can remember there was an interview with him on gogame)

oh men, I just got promoted 6d like many people on KGS, he isn't the next pro superstar. so why do you make an interview of him ? he has never won anything, he is just pathetic because he need to go to korea to become 6d. Many people do that on their own country...I'll prefer for example an interview of loverher (Ali Jabarin) because he defeated artem in a big event and became 6 on KGS by his own means. danigabi is useless ....
