MilanMilan tells us "kghin has less than 5% probability of entering Top3" in this year's WAGC!
kghin is having a hard time maintaining his 9d rank on KGS.
He
was demoted to 8d again today, after being defeated by MilanMilan in a very exciting match.
You
can watch their game here.
Black
(MilanMilan)
had a big lead in Fuseki (after
J16 you can see that his thickness and influence in the center is huge!), but
somehow kghin managed to turn the game into a very complicated
large-scale fight and created troubles for Black.
Even
after White's group was captured at the top left, he still got some chances by
threatening to make a huge territory at the bottom. By now this thrilling game
was being watched by over 500 observers!
Black
took the risk and actually managed to make his group live while killing
White's! kghin was forced to resign.

No
one on KGS knows Chi Hin Chan (kghin) better than Peter Liu (MilanMilan).
Over the years, the two have played each other more than 100 times, and Peter's
winning percentage is close to 80%.
Nevertheless,
just before this game, kghin had actually beaten MilanMilan three times in a row.
We
decided to ask (casually) Peter what he thinks about kghin's improvement and
his chances in this year's WAGC (World Amateur Go Championship), and he kindly
agreed to share his opinion.
Peter
thinks that although kghin has a "rich experience" and "is good at fighting", he is "still far away from pros" because "his logic and ethics" are still "kind of strange".
When
pressed for clarification, Peter said that kghin still
plays moves that "should never be played by pros" (amateurish
moves, that is, "in a smooth way to say").
According
to MilanMilan,
some part of kghin's Go knowledge has "mistakes", so he says that is
why he prefers Thomas Debarre [who beat kghin in last year's WAGC].
Peter
concedes that last year kghin didn't play at his "real
level" and that he can do better this year, but adds that "no3 is his limitation":
MilanMilan: He has under 5% possibility
to enter top3
He
reminds us that players from China and Korea are always in the top 3, and that
Japanese players are also very strong; but MilanMilan also stated that he would "prefer to see players from Europe beating players
from China and Korea".
