Du Yufeng 3p defeats Swedish Go Star, Fredrik Blomback!
Background:
Du Yufeng 3p started to learn go since she was 9 years old. She became a professional at age 15. She was also a graduate student at Korea's Myongji University, and was runner-up in a 1995 Chinese Woman Tournament. You can find her on KGS under the userid, "duyufeng". You may have also seen her at the 2008 US Go Congress, as she is reported as having attended on the US Go Congress webpage for 2008.
Fredrik Blomback's biography was given in an earlier post, but to reiterate, he is a strong Swedish 5d. He has won various Swedish championships, ranging from Västerås 2009 to the 2007 Stockholm Open. He is indeed a strong player, and rather young, too.
In this game, Fredrik played pretty actively, but following the choice of joseki at move 14, white's area at the top of the board became quite large.
White was able to skillfully invade black's area at the bottom, and ended up winning the game by 5.5 points.
Note that there was only 0.5 komi in this game, however.
