Roln111 is still 8-dan, even after winning 14 rated games straight! According to his ranking graph, Ilya is very close to 9d, he needs few more wins to reach it. Any way, the road from 8d to 9d on KGS is so far! I am sure that with his recent score it was possible to reach 9-dan on all other Go servers. Here is the last game he won (on 2 stones) . He did not even try to trick his opponent in fuseki. White played so solidly! He was ahead on territory till the end, when Black made things easier and missed the atari.

That's not a rating system though. It's just a ladder.

And on Tygem you can get 2 ranks, if you win 20 games straight. Can go to 9d directly from 7d.

Most servers if you win 10 games in a row then you are promoted to the next rank. Also if you lose 10 in a row then you get demoted. This is a major flaw in the ranking system
