New 9d on KGS: icydarts!
A new 9d appeared on KGS - "icydarts" registered three days ago (on October 28) and had a ten-game winning streak before he was finally beaten by "supertjc" 8d (icydarts and supertjc played a total of four games, three of which won by icydarts).
Here is what icydarts's info says:
"Hi, my name is Ryan and I'm from Vancouver, Canada.
I love playing Go.
I have accounts on tom对弈 and tygem both named 狂风吼叫."
Ryan Li placed seventh in the 2010 Korea Prime Minister Cup World Baduk Championship with a record of 5-2. It's exciting to see him playing on KGS!
Today icydarts 9d played "smartrobot" 9d two times (I think they will continue playing each other!), and although he lost the two games (you can see the second game here - it had over 700 observers! - I removed the kibitz, except the players' and MilanMilan's comments :)), he was very close to winning (smartrobot even said at the end of the game: "too lucky").
icydarts had many fans cheering for him. I think he will be very popular among kibitzers :)
Having lost two games against smartrobot, icydarts' rank decreased to 8d. In any case, I believe he will be 9d again very soon (as I write this article, he is playing supertjc again - Ryan too wants to become a solid 9d!).
Let's hope he will keep playing for a long time on our favourite server!
