Qiao ("etggfdfghj") is 2p now... (WAGC updates)
That
was quick!
Qiao
Zhijian turned pro right after the World Amateur Go
Championship (which he won) just three months ago, and has already reached
the rank of 2-dan pro!
I
was aked what the meaning of "etggfdfghj" (Qiao's ID on Tygem) is,
but I do not believe it has one. I got a message from Sam Aitken (who was also
at the WAGC, representing the UK), and he explains:
I think on the Chinese Tygem/TOM sign
up page they have a strange way it works. You enter your Chinese name and then
there is a box to enter a nick for the English client (can be completely
unrelated) so I guess he just mashed the keyboard
In
the game above you can see Qiao's match with Chen Cheng-Hsun (the Chinese Taipei's
representative), played in the 5th round of the WAGC. (White's main mistake was
the timing of R3... he played it too late!) I chose this game because we have
other good news to share: last month, Chen Cheng-Hsun also became a
professional in China!
Unlike
Qiao, Chen had to pass the yearly pro exam (in July) to become professional.
It was a great achievement!
We
hope they can keep improving and getting good results!
